Brian Smith is a Senior Partner at Washington Harbour Partners LP. Prior to joining Washington Harbour, Mr. Smith served as a Senior Partner at In-Q-Tel (IQT), where he led the firm’s Advanced Systems Practice and oversaw investments across next-generation energy systems, commercial space, autonomous systems, materials, manufacturing, advanced analytics, intelligent connectivity, and cybersecurity. During his nearly two decades at IQT, Mr. Smith executed over sixty investments in support of the national security community and helped expand IQT’s global footprint as Managing Director of its first international office in London.

Before joining IQT, Mr. Smith held several senior roles at Merrill Lynch, including Vice President positions within Corporate Strategy and Finance, as well as serving as an investor in the firm’s strategic venture capital group.

Mr. Smith earned a B.A. in Economics from Bucknell University and an M.B.A. from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. He is a member of Business Executives for National Security (BENS) and a member of the Virginia Venture Partners (VVP) Investment Advisory Committee.
